Internationally, Clef verte was launched by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) in 2002. With 2700 accredited institutions in 56 countries, it is the first international network of ecological tourism structures that respect the environment. . It is supported by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
The first ecotourism label
This project was born in Dakhla in July 2010 in an approach respectful of the environment. Construction of wood infrastructures, maximization of local resources, creation of an ecosystem with 2,500 plants, reduction of the carbon footprint and management of consumption, responsible management inscribed in a logic of sustainable development with the implementation of eco-friendly actions citizens (awareness-raising operations, beach cleaning ...). In August 2013 Ocean Vagabond Dakhla obtained the eco-tourism label: "The Green Key".
